Mary Arlene Edwards

Mary A. Edwards 85, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, November 26, at the Simpson Health Center, Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Mary is survived by her children, Carol (Dave) Steinblock; Mike Sweeney; Joe Sweeny all of Fort Dodge; Dennis Sweeney of Omaha, NE; Jane Clapper of Humboldt; 26 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis Inman of Fort Dodge; Marcela Stanley of Colorado Springs, CO. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Mary Phillips; sons, Tom and Tim Sweeney; sisters, Virgie Flaws and Margie Phillips; and a brother, Bud Phillips. Mary A. Phillips was born January 28, 1928 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in the Fort Dodge/Barnum area, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School. She was united in marriage to Dennis Sweeney on June 9, 1946. Dennis passed away in 1973. She was then united in marriage to Russ Edwards. Mary has lived in Fort Dodge all her life. Mary enjoyed embroidery, watching pro-wrestling, and most of all spending time with her family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
