Mary Fouts Metzger

West Bend Mary M. Fouts Metzger 69, formerly of Rockwell City, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Fr. Lynn Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial of casket will be at St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with a Parish Rosary at 3:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home Face Book page. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Mary is survived by her husband Glenn of West Bend; daughter Jen Metzger of Ottumwa; brother James Fouts of Rockwell City; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Susie (Wasko) Fouts. Mary Mildred Fouts was born November 11, 1953 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell City High School with the Class of 1971. She received her bachelors degree from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City. On June 18, 1977 she was united in marriage to Glenn Metzger and the couple made their home in West Bend. Mary began her teaching career in 1975, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in West Bend. A few years later she taught at the West Bend Community Schools until her retirement in 2010.
