Mary Frances Gemmel

Mary F. Gemmel, 74, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, December 8th at Friendship Haven. A Celebration of life will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, December 14th in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Visitation and time of prayer Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Survivors include her 3 grandchildren Sauscha Ayala, Saydie (Austin) Elliott, Dana Ayala, great grandchildren Brylea Grady, Dana Ayala Jr., Tyson Ayala, Delilah Ayala, Caden Ellliott and Lucas Elliott, step-sons Michael E. Gemmel of Webster City, Landon J. Gemmel of Des Moines, numerous sisters and brothers. Preceded in death by her father Robert Evans and mother Ruby Kidwell (Moore) Evans, husband Michael in 2019, daughter Taunja Riley, several sisters and brothers. Mary Frances Evan was born on December 23, 1945 in El Centro, CA. She was raised and attended schools in Des Moines and Fort Dodge. On December 31, 1994 she was united in marriage to Michael Gemmel, the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Mary worked for Central Lab for 16 years. She then worked for the Youth Shelter as an Administrative Assistant. She enjoyed shopping and having lunch with her girls, reading when she was still able to do so, watching the Golden girls every day, and spending time with her family and her dog Bentley. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
