Mary Helen Lauer, 96, of Lehigh, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5th at 10:30 a.m. at Christ The King Church, Dayton, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Mary is survived by her sons, Robert (Joan) Lauer of Lehigh; Keith (Diane) Lauer of Atlantic; and her grandson, Patrick Lauer of Burnside. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on June 2nd, 1997; son, Gene Lauer; parents, Eugene and Lennie (Bryce) Dean; 3 sisters; and 5 brothers. Mary Helen Dean was born October 1, 1918 in Nichols. In 1938, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Lauer in Winterset. The couple established their home on a farm in Mahaska County, and then they moved in 1943 to a farm in Clay Township in Webster City. In 1981, the couple moved to a farm near Lehigh. Mary was a member of Christ The King Church, Dayton, and attended the Dayton Golden Memory Club in Lehigh. She also spent years with the Dayton Wranglers volunteering at the Dayton Rodeo, enjoyed polka music, and square dances at the Bohemian Hall. Mary truly loved spending time at the farm. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
