Mary Ida F. Wood, 67, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A Celebration of Life will be Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Ginger) Wood of Nevada; Jennifer Bockoven of Waverly; Lisa Echelberger of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Maria Schawnz; Tonya Burnvold; Daniel Wood; Natalie Wood; Grant Bockoven; James Bockoven and K.C Bockoven; great-grandchildren, Reeve, Alyson and Emma Schwanz; and brother, Ted Grim of Webster City. Mary Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mary (Heidt) Grim; sister, Donna Grim; brother, Sonny Grim and infant brother, Melvin. Mary Ida Frances Grim was born June 5, 1950 in Iowa City. She was raised and educated in the Gilmore City area. She later attended Iowa Central Community College. She was united in marriage to Dennis Wood on May 20, 1968 in Humboldt. The couple lived in Florida for a period of time, until Dennis was discharged from the Army. The couple then moved back to Humboldt. Eventually they made their home in Fort Dodge. They later divorced. Mary Ida was a patient care technician at Trinity Regional for over 28 years. She loved to camp, especially with her family. She adored her grandchildren. Mary Ida was a giving and compassionate woman that wanted to help someone in need in any way possible.
