Mary Jean Freund

Mary "Jean" Freund, 83, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be Sunday 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include her children, Michael D. Freund; James D. Freund; Karen (Steve) M. Patterson all of Fort Dodge; Paul (Teresa) Freund of Rochester, MN; Dan (Chris) Freund of Humboldt; Laurie (David) Mullen of Fort Dodge; 9 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Lombard; Eileen Flemming both of Fort Dodge; brother, Dan Crouse; sister-in-law, Donna Freund; and brother-in-law, Merrit Freund. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Loretta (Riordan) Crouse; husband, Mark; sisters, Leota Moore; Rita Lindner; Katherine Johnson; Ann Mueller; brothers, Garland Crouse; Herchel Crouse and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Freund. Mary Jean Crouse was born on November 30, 1933, in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1953. On June 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Mark D. Freund at Holy Rosary Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. The couple first met when they were both 13 years old at the corner of Johnson Clayworks. Besides working at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, the Marian Home and the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center; Mary also worked at Trinity Regional Medical Center for 24 years retiring in 1999. Spending time with her family was tremendously important to her. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
