Mary Joan Patricia Lahiff

Mary Joan P. Lahiff, 80, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11th at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow with a graveside service at St. James Cemetery, Clare with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Mary Jo is survived by her cousin, Janet & Roger Graham and their family and the descendants of Emmett Lahiff and Rosemary Fitzgerald Schoon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Lahiff; cousins, Emmett Lahiff, Margaret Williams, Rosemary Fitzgerald Schoon, Jean Wellen, and Ellen Barmore. Mary Joan Patricia Lahiff was born April 9, 1934 in Mankato, Minnesota. She was adopted as a toddler by Joe and Mary Lahiff of Clare. She graduated from St. Matthew's High School. After graduation she attended the Convent of the Sisters of the Presentation Order in Dubuque, Iowa. She served from 1952 till 1967. Before moving to Glendale, California in 1973, Mary Jo worked for Felco/Land O'Lakes. In California, Mary Jo was employed with Marshall and Swift until her retirement in 2000. She then returned to Fort Dodge to be closer to family and friends. In 2012, Mary Jo moved into the Fort Dodge Villa Care Assisted Living and then in 2013, she entered into the nursing home at the Villa Care. Special thanks to all of Mary Jo's caregivers at the Villa Care Center, especially, the staff of Trinity's emergency room, the doctors and nurses of the CCU, and to Sister Trudy for guiding Mary Jo home to be with the Lord.
