Mary Louise Ricker

Mary L. Ricker, 67, of Fort Dodge passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Mary Louise Ford was born on September 11, 1946 in Dexter, IA to Hazel and John (Jack) Ford. As a young girl the family moved to Humboldt and she graduated from Humboldt High School. Following her education, Mary was united in marriage to Maurice Ricker and they made their home in Marcus, IA. Mary enjoyed her role as mother to two children, and homemaker. The couple later divorced, whereupon Mary and the children moved to Fort Dodge. She was proud of her family and her Irish heritage. She will be remembered always for her humor, and for her respect and love for animals. Survivors include her son, William "Buddy" (Susan) Ricker of Owatonna, MN; daughter, Katherine "Kit" (Cory) Anderson of Fort Dodge, mother; Hazel Ford of Humboldt, her sister; Jane (Larry) Ricketts of Ames, grandchildren; Rian Dicke-Michels, Ceilidh Dicke, Jessica, Katelynn, Aleah, and Drew Anderson; great granddaughter, Aurora Michels; great grandson, Jaxton Gobel, niece; Dawn Angus of Ankeny, nephew Dan (Leslie) Ricketts of Kansas City, MO, and grand nieces and nephews. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren (or as she called them "my greats") so much. The family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the tireless staff at The Marian Home and Trinity Regional Medical Center for their comforting support and gentle care in Mary's last days. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Catholic Daughters of America and Legion of Mary Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
