Mary M. Cain, 94, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and at 2:00 p.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Barnum. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary is survived by her children, Thomas (Stephanie) Cain of Bellevue, NE; Dan (Paula) Cain of Stanton; Mary Beth (Terry) Kuntz of Thornton, CO; grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Cain of Colorado Springs, CO; Leslie Cain of Bellevue, NE; Jenny Cain of Omaha, NE; Andrea (Michael) Miller of Osceola; Brianna (Joe) Schaefer of Lakewood, CO; Angela Smithwick of Thornton, CO; great-grandchildren, Brecken, Grayson and Benjamin Schaefer; Easton Smithwick; sister, LaVonne Winninger; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Myrtle (Crail) Winninger; husband, James Cain in 1990; brother, Joe Winninger; and grandson-in-law, Dr. Ollie Smithwick. Mary M. Winninger was born December 9, 1920 in Vinton, Iowa. Mary then moved with her family to Waterloo and then Fort Dodge. She graduated from Sacred Heart School. She then attended Tobin Business College. She was first employed as a secretary for the Boston Store. Then she worked in the business office for the Fort Dodge Telephone Company. In 1945, Mary was united in marriage to James Cain. The couple made their home on a farm west of Barnum. Then in 1988, they established their home in Fort Dodge. Mary was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. She loved all her family dearly. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
