Mary R Peterson

Mary R. Peterson, 87, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Prairie Hills of Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Frank Lona officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be held at a later date in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Survivors include her children, Gary (Teresa) Peterson of Atlanta, GA; Conrad (Carmen) Peterson of Fort Dodge; Eric Peterson of Ames; Aaron Peterson of Myrtle Beach, SC; Brian (Julie) Peterson of Iowa City; Cecile (Dan) Kjos of Ypsilanti, MI; Janet (Steve) Tepfer of Atlanta, GA; Joy (Jerry) Jenkins of Charles City; Linda (Jim) Stuber of Des Moines; Theresa (Gene) Giesing of St. Louis, MO; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Norm Kueny of Fort Dodge; Leo Kueny of Fort Dodge; and Earl (Carol) Kueny of Ankeny. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Regina (McGuire) Kueny; husband, Cecil "Pete" Peterson; grandsons, Chad Peterson; Eric Shipman; brothers, John and Jim Kueny; daughter-in-laws, Jeannine Peterson and Nancy Peterson. Mary R. Kueny was born July 29, 1927 in Danbury. Following her education, Mary and her family moved to Fort Dodge. She was united in marriage to Cecil Peterson on April 1, 1948. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Besides being a full-time homemaker and raising her 10 children, Mary was employed at Wiewel Drug for a number of years. She also volunteered her time at Corpus Christi Grade school and with Catholic Services. Mary was a member of Corpus Christi Church and served on many committees. Mary was a loving wife, mom, and grandmother. Mary was an avid Hawkeye fan. She also enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, and cross-stitching. Memorials may be left in discretion to the family.
