Maxine Jackowell Vannoni

Maxine (Jackowell) Vannoni, 98, of Fort Dodge, IA, left our world on September 17, 2019, one day before her 99th birthday, to join her beloved Bill in eternity. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a C.D. of A. Rosary at 2:45 p.m. at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Maxine M. Jackowell was born September 18, 1920 at home in Clayworks, IA. She was the eighth of nine children born to Anthony and Domenica Giacovelli "Jackowell". She was baptized Comassima Maria Giacovelli honoring her Italian heritage. Maxine graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1938 and married her sweetheart William "Bill" Vannoni on September 6, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church. While she and Bill were not blessed with children, her love for family had no boundaries. She was a lifelong homemaker and caregiver for her parents, husband, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. "Auntie" and "Uncle" loved baseball, rooting for their favorite teams, Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. Maxine was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Italian Mutual Auxiliary, Farm Bureau and Holy Trinity Parish. Maxine was the last of a family of five boys and four girls, whose parents emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1907. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Domenica, husband Bill in 2002, sisters Grace Gilchrist, Mary Mastro, and Rosie Adson, brothers Steve, Carl, Joseph, Nathan "Nat", and Rocco "Rocky" Jackowell. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. Maxine's passion was her family and although she will greatly be missed, we take solace in the knowledge she is reunited with the true love of her life, her beloved husband of 58 years, Bill. Memorials may be left to the Veteran's Memorial Park at Kennedy Lake.
