MB Newsome of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully in Cameron, North Carolina surrounded by family on September 29, 2016 of complications from prostate cancer. He was 79 years old. Born on December 9th 1936. MB was the first son of 12 children of MB (Joe) Newsome and Blessitt Pearl Durham Newsome. Mr. MB Newsome was self-educated and an entrepreneur who mastered many professions during his life. He met the love of his life Patricia Martin Newsome in 1960 married in 1961 and over the last 55 years parented four sons and five daughters. MB was known as a people person very giving, active in his community and cared about helping others. He practiced Islam and was passionate about his religion. As-Salaam Alaikum and Wa-Alaikum-Salaam were always his greetings of the day. MB retired from Velar Chemicals in Columbus, Georgia in 2000 and after falling ill he relocated with his wife to Honolulu, Hawaii. He moved to North Carolina in 2013 and after 17 years of victories he finally succumbed to cancer on last week. MB Newsome leaves to cherish his loving memories his beloved wife, Patricia Martin Newsome; sons, Marx B. Newsome; Linedwin O. Newsome (Kalli); Hasan I. Newsome; Muhammad I. Newsome all of Des Moines, IA; daughters, Donna M. Lewis of Cameron NC; Bonita R. Williams (James) of Des Moines, IA; Angela R. Hogan of Converse, TX; Kristal P. Wilson (Priest) and Valerie A. Newsome (Pat) both of Fort Dodge, IA; twenty-eight, grandchildren and twenty-six, great-grandchildren; five brothers, Wali Al-Hameed (Tauheedah); Jameel Hameed; Hasan Hameed; Melvin Newsome and Edward Newsome all of Fort Dodge, IA; three sisters, Angel Orr (Ken) Chattanooga TN; Diemah Hameed Columbus, GA; Celisa Newsome Fort Dodge, IA and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. MB was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Pearl Newsome; brothers, Lawrence Newsome and Phillip Newsome; nieces Curstie Newsome and Angel Hameed; nephews, Daryl Cunningham and Gregory Newsome. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at noon Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
