Merva S. Dressen

April 4, 1929 — December 21, 2018

Merva S. Dressen, 89, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Paula J Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 26th at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place at Corpus Christi cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include her children, Kathy Dressen of Fort Dodge; Greg (Debbie) Dressen of Twin Lakes; Nancy (Richard) Dressen of Des Moines; and Patrice (Randy Risetter) Dressen of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her brother, Allan Eugene "Gene" (Marge) Herd brothers-in-law, Bill (Pat) Dressen of St. Paul, MN, and Merlin (Jan) Dressen of Fort Dodge; sisters-in-law, Ann Cahill of Kosato, MN; Mary Dressen of Fort Dodge; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ann (Sickler) Herd; infant son, Tom; and her brothers, Clarence, JR., and Donald Herd. Mervann Susan Herd was born on April 4, 1929 in Green Isle, MN; where she was raised and educated. On October 9, 1948 Merva was united in marriage to Robert Dressen in Green Isle, MN. The couple moved to Fort Dodge where made their home in 1949. Merva raised her family and she also provided day care for other families. She was member of Holy Trinity Parish, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and she enjoyed bowling for a number of years. The family would like to say thank you to Hospice Care, the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, and to her nurse, Katie for their wonderful care of Merva. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
