Michael D. Macek

Michael D. Macek, 77, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Survivors include his; children, Pilar Tromacek (Richard) of Des Moines; Misha Thoma (Jonathan) of Muscatine; Marek Macek of Denver, CO; Gisela Macek of Ames; Shari Harklau (Rod) of Humboldt; Sara Dyvig (Ed) of Humboldt; 5 grandchildren; sister, Marilee Michel of Boone; brother, Robert Macek of Mason City and great nephew, Jordan Castor. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gizela (Jurisin) Macek; wife, Anne in 2015; and grandson, Parker Thoma. Michael D. Macek was born April 11, 1940 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School. He then attended Iowa State University. On May 30, 1982, Mike was united in marriage to Anne K. Bersagel and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Mike will be remembered for his larger than life personality and generous heart.
