Michael Edward Wertz

Michael E. Wertz, 65, of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday July 12, 2023, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 15, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Michael is survived by his wife Deb; stepdaughter Amy (Larry) Dupay; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Kenny Wertz; brothers-in-law, David Runyan and Michael Runyan-Runze; daughter-in-law, Chris Williams; and a special friend, John Zuerrer. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Denny and Susie Wertz, brothers Tim & Jimmy Wertz, and a very special grandmother, Jessie Lane. Michael Edward Wertz was born December 23, 1957, in Des Moines Iowa. Mike was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from St. Edmond High School. He then attended and graduated from The University of Arizona. He then continued his education at The University of San Francisco earning his Masters in Sociology. On October 5, 1991, he was united in marriage to Deb Runyan at Corpus Christi Church. Following Micheal's education, the couple established their home in Fort Dodge, and he was employed with Iowa Central Industries. In 1993 the couple moved to Las Vegas, returning to Fort Dodge in 2018. His second greatest love besides his wife and family was football. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
