Michael L. Wirth, 66, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2020 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Michael is survived by his children, Michael R. Wirth, Melissa (Robert) Stoneburner, Danielle Ayala, Samantha Agostini, Karen Hughes, and Meme (Karry) Auten; grandchildren, Elias Ayala, Alaia Ayala, Jazzlyn McCormick, Jada Franco, Aniya Sellers, Matthew Garcia, Douglas (Becky) Godfrey, Braelyn Pierce, Lori (Darld) Cummings, and Kristi (Casey) Murray; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Sheri Wirth and brother-in-law, Joe Newkirk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Wirth and Loretta (Lehman) Wirth; wife, Margaret Wirth in 2011, and father-in-law, John Newkirk; special friend, Kathy O'Grady; siblings, Larry Wirth and Richard Wirth; and grandson, Robert Pierce. Michael Lee Wirth was born July 14, 1954 in Minnesota. As a child, he moved to Fort Dodge. He attended public schools including Fort Dodge Senior High. After obtaining his GED, he attended Iowa Central Community College in the auto mechanics program. On February 24, 1974 he was united in marriage to Margaret Newkirk. He worked for National Gypsum for over 13 years. He also worked for DART Midas Transportation, PIC and Keim Trucking and retired from the US Postal Service. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and ghost hunting with his special friend, Kathy. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
