Michael Richardson

August 18, 1954 — April 23, 2024

Michael Darnell Richardson, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was carried home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, April 23, 2024, after a courageous battle with kidney disease, liver failure, and heart failure.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Calvary Memorial COGIC with Bishop Leroy Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Michael was born August 18, 1954, in Austin, Texas. He attended Simpson College in Indianola and graduated with his bachelor’s in chemistry. In 1989, Mike made Fort Dodge his home and in 1990 was united in marriage to Jenny Grady. The couple were very active members of the Calvary Memorial COGIC. Mike was first employed as a financial manager before becoming a chemist for the Fort Doge Labs in 1990. He retired from the labs in 2016. Mike will be remembered for countless quirks, especially his collection of comic books and fine point fountain pens.

Michael had a strong relationship with God and unceasing faith. He was the provider of his household up until his last breath and the Patriarch of his family, possessing a heart with the capacity to love us all. He was one of the strongest moral men of integrity and always put an emphasis on his children pursuing good grades and a higher education. He held us all to a high standard and we are blessed to call him brother, husband, father, grandpa, poppa, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his stillborn daughter Michelle Ruth Richardson, parents Margaret and Douglas Richardson, uncles and aunts Curtis and Donna Richardson, Harry and Marie Richardson, nieces Dalacee, Nikki, and nephew Casey.

Michael is survived by his wife of 34 years Jenny, children Michael Douglas (Katherine) Richardson of Harrisonburg, VA, Keisha Lynn (Justin) Beadle of Fort Dodge, Michelle Danielle (Dallas) Beisch of Pomeroy, and Marissa Denise Richardson of Fort Dodge. He was also a loving and devoted grandfather to Aria, Titus, Penelope, Elijah, Tzziporah, Tyson, Elias, sisters Vera, Myra, Marcia, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family.

We love him deeply and will miss him forever. Gone but never forgotten. You fought a good fight, you kept the faith, and now our Heavenly Father, the one true and living GOD has seen fit to take you, his faithful servant, to your heavenly home where you aren’t in pain any longer.

Memorials left to the discretion of the family.
