Msgr. Thomas Donahoe

April 14, 1926 — November 5, 2020

Msgr. Thomas Donahoe, 94, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Holy Trinity Church with Most Reverend R. Walker Nickless Bishop of Sioux City Diocese officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the US Navy and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be one-hour prior at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Thomas Donahoe was born April 14, 1926 to James and Mayme (Jensen) Donahoe in Fort Dodge. He graduated from the Corpus Christi Academy in 1944. He then served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge. Thomas then received his bachelor's from Loras College, Dubuque. He then went on to study theology at St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, MN. He finished his graduate studies at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Msgr. Donahoe was ordained by Bishop Joseph Mueller at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. His first assignment was as Chaplain of St. Anthony's Home in Sioux City. He then served as the associate pastor at St. Peter and Paul in Carroll. He was later a faculty member at Carroll Kuemper High School and eventually became superintendent. Other parishes he served at were St. Patrick's in Sheldon, Immaculate Conception in Sioux City, and Immaculate Conception in Graettinger. He retired back to his hometown in June of 2002.
