Nancye Snelson

Nancye C. Snelson, 71, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Fort Dodge Villa Care Center under the care of Hospice. A visitation and Celebration of Life will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Nancye is survived by her daughters, Monica (Earl) Radke of Fort Dodge; Tracey (Robb) Bartmann-Leek of St. Louis, MO; son, Corey Snelson of Fort Dodge; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Joy Piper of Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Grace (Parsons) Piper; husband, Sheldon; and sister, Theresa Piper. Nancye Carroll Piper was born August 23, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri. When she was young, Nancye and her family moved to Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School. She then worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond. She was united in marriage to Sheldon Snelson on May 30, 1966. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge, Iowa following Sheldon's honorable discharge from the United States Navy. Nancye worked for Hawkeye Awning for a period of time before becoming employed with Wermac for many years until retiring in 1993. She enjoyed golfing with her husband Sheldon in couples league, crocheting and loved sewing. Memorials may be left to the Unity Point Hospice.
