Neal Stanek, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 24, 2022 in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Township Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Neal is survived by hs wife Shirley Mannel, son Jeff and wife Elizabeth Stanek.; step children Gary Black of Rapid City, SD and Rhonda Widmer, Tomball, TX, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; siblings Shirley Alexander, Cedar Rapids, and Sharon Tuller, Des Moines; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Ruth (Thurow) Stanek, brothers Lowell Stanek, and Douglas Stanek (died in infancy). Neal Jayson Stanek was born April 26, 1938 in Fort Dodge. He attended school in Moorland for 11 years and graduated from Callender High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Shirley Mannel on February 13, 1971 in Ft Dodge. He proudly served his country as an Air Force Reservist with the 133 rd Test Squadron. He was a lifetime farmer and cattle producer and accepted Century Farm status on the family farm in 1994. He was also a Crows Hybrid Seeds salesman. After turning over the day to day operations of the farm to his son, he enjoyed traveling the country as well as visiting local casinos, and spending time with friends and family. His great love however, continued to be giving advice and helping wherever he could on the farm, well into his retirement. He was a member of Pheasants Forever, NRA, and the ZCBJ Bohemian Lodge. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
