Patricia Bednar

Patricia "Pat" Joann Bednar, age 89, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, left this world to join her beloved husband, Felo, on December 12, 2024 with her family by her side.

Funeral services PLEASE NOTE THE DATE will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 28th at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday 1 hour prior at the church.

Patricia Joann Rector was born September 25, 1935 in Iowa City to Delbert Ivan Rector and Jennie M. Axen Rector. Known by her friends and family as Pat, she grew up in Burnside, Iowa and attended school there. Her best friend Rosie introduced her to the love of her life, Felo Bednar, when she was working in Fort Dodge. Patricia and Francis "Felo" Bednar were married in Holy Rosary Church on August 3, 1953. The parish was an important part of their lives. Pat helped with church projects as a member of the Holy Rosary Rosarians and attended mass there with Felo for over 60 years. Pat and Felo enjoyed vacationing at Lake Okoboji, Iowa and Branson, Missouri. They also enjoyed several trips to Europe exploring Felo's Slovak heritage.

Pat was a loving mother and proud of her two sons Matt and Mark. She enjoyed attending their sports games and school events, as well as celebrating their achievements in higher education. Her children fondly remember family vacations with their parents camping in Colorado and the Black Hills of South Dakota, as well as very special trips to Yellowstone National Park with extended family. She was also a loving grandmother, and her grandchildren enjoyed staying with their grandparents in the summertime, with Pat and Felo often joining their family vacations in South Carolina.

Joining the workforce in the early 1970's once her children were older, she assembled switches for Globe Union at their manufacturing facility for many years.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Jennie, her beloved husband, Felo and her sister, Charlotte.

She is survived by her brother, William Rector, her sons, Matthew and Mark, her grandchildren Joseph, Emily and Brita, and her great-grandchildren, Elliot, Hedda and Folke. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed. We were lucky to have her and will always hold the memory of her kind and generous spirit in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to St. Jude's Children Hospital in memory of Pat.
