Patricia Swanstrom

Patricia Swanstrom, 75, of Fort Dodge passed away January 16, 2022, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Private Graveside services will be held on Thursday January 20th at North Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Pat's life is pending. Pat is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) of Fort Dodge, daughter Andrea (Ed) Cook of Fort Dodge, son Matt (fianc Jen Schmadeke) Swanstrom of Des Moines, grandchildren Aaron Cox (Jenna Williams) of Fort Dodge, Mandy Swanstrom of Charles City, Seth Cook, Thaddaeus Cook, Anna Cook of Thor, Brie and Lanie Frerichs of Des Moines, Ryan Cox of Fort Dodge. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Evelyn (Jones) Horton, brother Neal Robert Horton. Patricia Ann Horton was born January 6, 1947, in Fort Dodge. She attended schools here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Patricia was united in marriage to Richard Swanstrom on October 16, 1965, and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Besides being the best homemaker, Pat also collaborated with Dick at Larson-Swanstrom Company until they sold the company in 1995. In their semiretirement Pat and Dick went around to Iowa Sport Shows and sold sports memorabilia for several years. The couple then owned and operated a Nutty Bavarian Franchise which they sold in 2004 and fully retired. The couple enjoyed traveling and spent their winters in Florida and Texas where they made many friends. Pat enjoyed volunteering at the schools and hospitals and even helped transport prisoners for the Webster County Sheriff's Department with Rita Griggs. Pat was a past City Council President of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Her favorite summer ever was going to over one hundred softball and baseball games for her kids Andrea and Matt. Pat's greatest love was for her family and being involved in all her children's and grandchildren's activities. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
