Rockwell City Paul A. Nesler 75, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Rockwell City, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at Floyd Place in Sergeant Bluff. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial of casket will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell City. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday until service time. Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon of 43 years; children, John (Karen) Nesler of Pullman, WA, Angela (Brad) Menard of Sioux City, and Jeff (Amber) Nesler of Ankeny; 9 grandchildren, Shauni, Shane, Reese, Will, Miles, Chris (Nicole), Kyle (Bailey), Justin (Gabby), and Jordan (Lauren); 2 great-grandchildren, Brantley and Reece; sisters-in-law, Glennis Smith, and Lynn Nesler; brother-in-law Gary (Linda) Hammen; nieces; nephews; other relatives; his beloved dog Kylie; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reese A. and Elsie (Nimke) Nesler; brother Richard Nesler; and his father and mother-in-law, Dude and Doris Hammen. Paul Alan Nesler was born December 7, 1942 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended Rockwell City High School and received additional training at Iowa Central Community College in Agriculture Management. Paul worked at the Somers Cooperative in Somers where he resided with his first wife Sandy and two sons, John and Jeff were born to this union. The couple later divorced. In 1973, Paul became manager of the Jolley Elevator in Jolley. It was there he met Sharon Williams and the couple were married on November 1, 1975. Sharon had one daughter Angela whom Paul later adopted as his own. Paul and Sharon lived in several communities in Central Iowa, including Marble Rock, Scarville, and Lake Mills, where Paul managed grain elevators. In 2006, he retired and the couple moved back to Rockwell City. As Pauls health declined, they relocated to Ankeny, and then finally Sergeant Bluff. The couple enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time at their cabin in Minnesota with their beloved dog.
