Paul E. Krantz, 73, of Fort Dodge, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, after a long battle. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be at the Otho Cemetery. A visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Survivors include his children, Keith Krantz; Lori Redwing (Donzell); Kevin Krantz; Jeff (Robbie) Krantz; and Robert (Alissa) Krantz. Paul had 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy McBride and Marlene Lahiff; sister-in-laws, Pat Krantz; Rosemary (Don) Benson; and brother-in-laws, Rod (Linda) Crouse; Rick Crouse; and Randy Crouse. Paul had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Esther (Beadle) Krantz; siblings, Marian Sutter; Eugene Krantz; and Arlene (Jo) Bruss. Paul was also predeceased by both of his wives, Janet and Rachel. Paul Edward Krantz was born February 22, 1943 in the family home near Otho. He received his education at the Otho Schools, graduating from Otho high school. Paul married Janet Luke on September 1, 1962 and Keith, Lori, and Kevin were born to them. Janet was lost to them all in 1971 to cancer. Paul later married Rachel Crouse on November 9, 1975 at the Otho-Kalo Church. They established their home in the Otho area and to this marriage Jeff and Robert were born. Rachel was also lost to them all in 2013 to cancer. Paul was employed at Georgia-Pacific for 42 years, retiring in 2005. Paul always looked forward to the Saturday night Jam Sessions at the Otho Community Center, where he enjoyed gathering to play music with all his friends. Paul touched many with his musical talents and enjoyed sharing these talents by teaching others how to play instruments. Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and trapping with his friends and family throughout the years. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
