Paul Venteicher, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 Monday, January 20, 2014 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 11:30 a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery, where military rites will be presented by the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00, with a Vigil at 6:00 at the funeral home. Paul is survived by the love of his life of 63 years, Dorothy; children, Mary Lou Kirby (Tom) of Vincent; Linda Venteicher (Larry) of Carroll; Rose Berhow (Kirby) of Milford; Shari Whiting (Larry) of LaVerkin, UT; Dan Venteicher of Fort Dodge; Sandy Hokinson (Curt) of Manson; Randy Venteicher (Lynn) of Livingston, MT; Jean Lydeen of St. Cloud, MN; JoAnn Houser (Gordon) of Red Oak; John Venteicher of Big Fork, MT; Kathy Henrickson (Jack) of Coon Rapids; Connie Nebel (Dave) of Dyersville; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Venteicher of Brownsville, OR; sister, Anita Wolf of Aumsville, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Veronica (Wurzer) Venteicher; brothers, Eugene and Leroy; sisters, Lenore, Doris, and Genevieve. Paul was born February 6, 1924 in Carroll. As a child, Paul and his family moved to Little Falls, MN and then to the west coast settling in Spokane, WA. Paul served in the United States Army; during WWII in Europe. In 1946, Paul returned to Salem, OR. Paul then moved in 1949 to Carroll. In 1950, Paul was united in marriage to Dorothy Nieland in Breda, IA. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge in 1951. Paul worked for the Gypsum Mill and then Iowa Beef for 22 years before his retirement in 1984. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the VFW. Also, he was proud to part take in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Paul loved his best friend and wife dearly, their family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for life that included traveling, restoring cars, riding motorcycles, camping with his family and woodworking. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
