Peggy M. Barkley

GOWRIE Peggy M. Barkley, 87, passed away Wednesday December 25, 2019 at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday December 30, 2019 at United Methodist Church, Gowrie with Pastor Susan Rohden officiating. Burial will be in Gowrie Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday December 29, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Survived by husband Lyle Barkley- Gowrie, daughter Ann (Patrick) Cunningham- Paton, sons Tom (Sara) Barkley- West Des Moines, Bill (Anne) Barkley- Fort Dodge, grandchildren Matthew (Sara) Cunningham, Katherine (David) Palmer, Maureen (Philip) Jacoby, Kimberly (Christopher) Joliet, Heath (Mandy) Barkley, Leslie (Brian) Washington, Mandie (Tyler) Jordison, Keegan (Katie Haines) Barkley, Amy (Wesley) Castro, Cale (Kenzie) Barkley, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson. Preceding her in death were parents William and Viola (Arbuckle) Miller and brother Robert Miller. Peggy M. Miller was born July 25, 1932 at Bristol Township-Greene County and graduated from Gowrie High School in 1950. Peggy was united in marriage with Lyle Barkley on February 4, 1951, at the United Methodist Church, Gowrie. They were the first couple married in the present church in the basement. They farmed in the Gowrie area and Peggy later was the Head Cook at the Elementary School in Callender. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Memorials at family discretion.
