Msg. Phillip K. Trainer, 42, of Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on August 26, 2014 at his home in Cascade, Colorado. A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, September 12th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. John Elkin, officiating. Burial will follow at the Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent, Iowa with Military Honors conducted by the U. S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A Unit Memorial Service will be conducted for his family at Fort Carson Colorado, as well. Phillip was born on September 14, 1971 in Des Moines, Iowa to Janice K. (Summers) Trainer and Thomas E. Trainer. He grew up in Badger and Fort Dodge, Iowa; attending schools here until moving with his mother and sister to Littleton, Colorado where he attended Littleton High School. Phillip did a delayed enlistment for the U.S. Army while he was a student at The American Diesel & Automotive College. Upon his graduation he went into active duty in October 1992 with his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During his extensive military career, Phillip was stationed at Fulda, Germany in 1993; then in Friedburg, Germany from 1993 to 1996 with deployments to Macedonia and Kosovo; from 1997 to 1999 he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas; 2000 to 2004 served in Baumholder, Germany, with 2 deployments to Iraq; 2004 to 2006 in Hohenfels, Germany; 2007 to 2008 in Afghanistan; 2009 to 2011 Fort Carson, CO with another deployment to Iraq; 2011 to 2013 he served in Wiesbaden, Germany and was currently stationed at Fort Carson, CO. Phillip met Christina (Tina) Timmel while stationed in Fulda, Germany and they were married on March 3rd, 1994. Phillip is survived by his wife, Tina; children, Lars; Megan; Spencer; and Ella Mae; mother, Janice Trainer; sister, Laureen Ellen Trainer both of Fort Dodge; father, Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; many cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends that all truly mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by three infant children; his grandparents, John and Leota Summers of Thor, Iowa; Gerald and Beatrice Trainer of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Phillip was a good leader and a most loving Father. Time and events with his children were most important to him. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
