Phillip K. Newsome, 62, of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2016 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Funeral and Masonic Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Phillip K. Newsome was born September 1, 1954 to Mr. Joseph J. Newsome and Mrs. Blessit P. Newsome of Columbus, GA. Phillip received his education in the Muscogee County School System. He had been a member of the Fort Dodge community since 1969. Phillip K. Newsome is survived by his daughter, Kamila Pickett; grandchildren, Alysia and Jessica Mills; sisters, Mrs. Ida (Ken) Orr of Chattanga, TN; Ms. Eloise Daimah Muhammad of Columbus, GA; Ms. Celisa Ann Newsome of Fort Dodge; brothers, M.B. (Patricia) Newsome of Cameron, NC; Wali M. (Tauheedah) Al-Hameed; Hasson Hameed; Eugene M. Newsome; Jameel Hameed; and Edward Newsome, all of Fort Dodge. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Joe" and Blessit (Pearl) Newsome; grandson, Steven Mills Jr.; brother, Lawrence Newsome; aunt, Angel R. Hameed; and nephew, Darryl Cunningham. Phillip was a member of H.C. Meriwether and Masonic Lodge. Phillip will be forever remembered for his caring and compassionate heart. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
