Priscilla Marie Carlson

Priscilla Marie Carlson (Balm), 65, of Fort Dodge passed away at her home, Monday, August 31, 2015. Priscilla was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on September 10, 1949 to Karl and Geneva Balm. She grew up in Fort Dodge, graduated from Northwest Webster High School at Barnum and continued to live in and around Iowa until 1984 when she moved with her young family to Phoenix, Arizona. After spending many years being a devoted mother of three, Priscilla became a certified nursing assistant. She spent 15 years working for Sun Health helping elderly people stay in their homes with their loved ones and helping others as they transitioned through hospice care. Her unending devotion to helping others was observed by all with whom she came in contact. She returned to Fort Dodge in 2006 to help care for her mother-in law. Priscilla completed an A.A.S. in Culinary Arts from Iowa Central Community College. She spent the last few years exploring different jobs in the food industry while continuing to perfect her baking skills, including her amazing kringlas and other unforgettable treats. Priscilla is survived by her children; Brooke Carlson, Justin Carlson, daughter-in-law Joy, and Nathan Carlson; four grandchildren Riley, Madeline, McKenna and Brett; sister Ellen Balm; brother Pete Balm and sister-in-law Judy, many beloved cousins and friends. A celebration of Priscilla's life will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, followed immediately by a reception. Burial will be at Our Saviour's Cemetery in Callender.
