Ralph M. Johnston, 78, of Fort Dodge, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital, Des Moines. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Behm officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ralph Merle Johnston was born on July 28, 1940 in Jefferson to Ralph and Dorothy. His family moved to various towns when he was young due to his father's employment. They settled in Glidden where he began his journey as a meat cutter by working in a small grocery store. He graduated from Glidden High School in 1958. Ralph worked as a meat cutter at Safeway Store and then Randall's in Fort Dodge. After Randall's closed, he worked at Hy-Vee. Ralph was a loving husband, father, and friend to many. He always made sure everyone was taken care of and will always be loved for his caring ways. He is survived by his wife, Nicole (Hoban); children, Christine (Dave) Conell of Fort Dodge, Steve (Kris) Johnston of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer (Breck) Johnson of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Katelyn Bills (Clayton), Eric Conell (Maria) and Emily Conell, Charles, Bethany, Benjamin, and Alexis Johnston, Andy and Noelle Johnson; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dorothy (Bartlett) Johnston; brothers, Ed and Kevin; and sister, Carol. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
