Raymond E. Ault, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. NEW TIMES NEW TIMES A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19th at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, officiated by Msgr. Kevin McCoy. Ray is survived by his daughter, Julie Smith of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law, Sharyl Ault of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Chad (Sandy) McCarville, Kristen (Scott) Mericle, Mitch (Kim) McCarville; Alyssa (Mike) Collier, Kevin (Andrea) Ault, Abby (Jon) Hansen; Nick Bradt and Jenny Bradt; and 19 great grandchildren; and his sister, Lola Lynch of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Lois (DeFoe) Ault, wife Erma Ault in 2002; daughter, Gwen Bradt in 2005; son, Ron Ault in 2015; and his grandson, Brian Bradt, and his 2 brothers, John Ault and Bob Ault. Raymond E. Ault was born on April 18, 1928, in Fort Dodge. Ray was raised and educated in Fort Dodge; graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1945. That same year he enlisted in the United States Navy serving during WW II until his honorable discharge in 1948. Raymond was united in marriage to Erma Kolacia in September of 1948, the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Ray worked as a meat cutter for 31 years, which included owning and operating Ray's Meat Market from 1967 to 1979. In 1980, he became employed with Department of Labor and worked as a Veterans Representative until retiring in 1998. He was a life member of Holy Trinity Parish, the V.F.W. Post 1856, American Legion Post 130, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 29. Ray served as the past Commander of the Disabled Veterans; past Commander of the Webster County Veterans Council; and served on the Webster County Veteran Affairs Commission. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
