Raymond Eugene Stringer

February 23, 1922 — August 6, 2015

Raymond E. Stringer, 93, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday August 10, 2015 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Joseph Dillinger officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Raymond is survived by his children, James (Colleen) Stringer of Fort Dodge; Roger (Bonnie) Stringer of Pioneer; Yvonne "Bonnie" Peterson of Omaha, NE; Shirley Stringer of Fort Dodge; Carol (Ed) Archer of Coalville; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara; parents, Vidas and Lydia (Krantz) Stringer; son, David; sisters, Bernice Stringer and Hellen Cox. Raymond Eugene Stringer was born February 23, 1922 in Otho. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1940. From 1942 to 1945, Raymond served in the U.S. Army Air-Corp during WWII as a B-17 Turret Gunner. On February 20, 1946, he was united in marriage to Clara Modesta Allen at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Ray worked for A.D. Mc Quiken Furniture Store for a few years and then worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company for 35 years until retiring in 1982. He is a member of Corpus Christi Church, VFW and the 94th Bomb Group Memorial Association. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
