Raymond Forsythe

Raymond P. Forsythe, 85, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 13, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. A private family burial will be held at the West Bend Township Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Raymond is survived by his wife Donna of 60 years; his children, Cindy (Scott) Tolan of Morton Grove, IL, Ray (Steve Gentry) of Iowa City, Brian (Kathy) of Clare, Kevin (Rhonda) of Omaha, and Ann (Scott) Schulte of Fort Dodge. Grandchildren, Alexis Tolan, Gretel Forsythe, Shelby (Trevor) Peters, Grant (Abby) Forsythe, Mara (Heath) Hansch, Logan, Kaitlyn, Karli Forsythe, Sydney and Addie Schulte. His sisters Shirley Goldtrap, Georgeann Hadley, Colleen Kollasch and his four great grandchildren, Scarlett, Otto, Sage and Ellis. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Regina (Dunn) Forsythe, his infant daughter Diane, infant grandson Samuel Schulte, brothers, Roy, Robert, James, and George. Raymond Paul Forsythe was born June 17, 1936 in West Bend. He attended schools and graduated in West Bend. He then attended Iowa State University to study in the dairy industry. Raymond was united in marriage to Donna Thul on February 4, 1961 in St. Joseph Iowa, the couple eventually settled in Fort Dodge. Raymond worked at the Fort Dodge Creamery for over 30 years. In 1994, he and Donna moved to Spirit Lake, where Ray was employed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in maintenance for the next 20 years. In recent years, he and Donna moved back to Fort Dodge. Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, grilling and being outdoors and was extremely proud of his family especially his grandkids. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
