Reverend James McAlpin, 79, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with a Vigil at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Corpus Christi Church. Jim is survived by his sister, Sara McAlpin BVM of Dubuque and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Mary (Elsen) McAlpin, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. James Charles McAlpin was born June 26, 1938 in Fort Dodge. He attended Corpus Christi School and graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1956. He graduated from Loras College in Dubuque in 1960. He attended seminary at Mount St. Bernard in Dubuque and was ordained May 30, 1964 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany, Sioux City. Fr. Jim served St. Cecelia parish, Algona; St. Mary's parish, Storm Lake; St. Lawrence parish, Carroll; St. Benedict parish, Kossuth County; Sacred Heart parish, Fort Dodge; Sacred Heart parish, Boone; St. Patrick parish, Sheldon; Sacred Heart parish, Manning; and St. Bernard parish, Breda. He retired in 2008 and made Fort Dodge his home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
