Richard D. Hiesterman, 66, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the University Hospital in San Antonio, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Dan Carney officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Hiesterman of Fort Dodge; his children and grandchildren, Gretchen (Jason) Brown and their son Tayton and another son due the end of May of Fort Dodge; Gerald (Andrea) Hiesterman and their son Graham of Urbandale. Garner (Heather) Hiesterman and their children Zach, Adam & Jasmine of Fort Dodge; Greg (Angi) Hiesterman and their children Nathan & Karissa of Gowrie; Gaylen (Margaret) Hiesterman and their son Savoy of Cedar Falls; sisters, Patricia (Ernie) Campidilli of Kansas, Bette Hiesterman of Pocahontas and Laurine (Ed) Pirie of Pocahontas; and his brother, Rodney (Mary) Hiesterman of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Edna (Dammann) Hiesterman; sister, Deloris Culver, step mother, Helen (Martens) Hiesterman; and his niece, Gina Auten. Rich was born on November 5, 1948 in Fort Dodge. He grew up in Pocahontas and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1967. Richard then attended Iowa Central Community College and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge he worked for Georgia Pacific and Decker Truck Line retiring in May of 2014. Rich was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
