Richard E. Wignall, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Military Rites will be presented by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the Iowa State Patrol Honor Guard immediately following the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be on Thursday (TODAY) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at Sacred Heart Church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Richard is survived by his wife, Lori of Fort Dodge; step-children, Kirk A. (Kate) McCarville of Phoenix, AZ; Kim E. (Dorle) McCarville of Glendale, AZ; Kelly (Joe) Harvey of Fort Dodge; numerous grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth (Tribby) Wignall; and sister, Marie Lipley. Richard E. Wignall was born on October 1, 1931, in Marshalltown. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown, graduating from high school in 1949. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1950 until he was Honorably Discharged in 1953. Richard then attended school to become a Highway Patrolman. He worked for the Iowa State Patrol for 32 years until retiring in 1986. On February 22, 1971, Richard was united in marriage to Lori Heid McCarville. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge until moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1986; they returned to Fort Dodge in 2012. He enjoyed watching old western movies. Richard was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Memorials may be left to Hospice of Fort Dodge, the Marian Home, or to the discretion of the family.
