Richard L. Lind, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Jena Finch-Manchester officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the church. Richard is survived by his wife of almost 63 years Betty (Messerly) Lind, children Dan (Kelly) Lind, Barb Lind, and Beth Lind all of Fort Dodge, grandchildren Dr. Nicholas (Miriam) Lind, Nathan (Cassie) Lind, Jenni (David) Gutshall, Abbigael (Noah) Lindner, Austin Christianson, Graesyn, Kenneth Lind, Christopher Lind, Taytum Lind, Parker Lind, and Addison Lind, and great-grandchildren Georgia, Harvey, Ingrid, Hadley, Hudson, Annie, James and Olyvia. He was preceded in death by his parents Clemens and Marie (Linn) Lind, step father Earl Wertz, siblings, Wayne, Bud, Don, Phyllis Liljgren and infant sister Madeline. Richard Lee Lind was born January 26, 1940 in Dayton, IA. He attended schools in Dayton and moved with his family to Des Moines after his father's passing. He graduated from Des Moines and returned to Fort Dodge. On November 26, 1959 he was united to Betty Messerly at the Methodist church in Duncombe. Richard worked for National Gypsum and was the man credited with locating the piece of gypsum large enough for the Cardiff Giant carving that can be found at the Fort Museum. He was awarded $200.00 for his hard work. Richard loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud. He loved cars and painting. His favorite color was red and let it be known if it stood still, it was getting a coat of red paint! Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
