Richard "Dick" J. Van Winkle, 85, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 9th, 11:30 a.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be Thursday, June 11th, 10:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, Iowa . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House. A special thanks to all his friends and staff at Timberlake Care Center. Richard was born November 1, 1929, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Benjamin and Leona (Piesinger) Van Winkle. He worked as a Veterinary Sales Representative for Ft. Dodge Laboratories and Holmes Serum before retiring. He enjoyed the Ozarks and being outdoors, he was also an avid cribbage player. He had a great sense of humor, was a kid at heart, never met a stranger and was always a people person. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Richard J. Van Winkle, Jr., and brother, Donn Van Winkle. He is survived by his children, Mary Windt, Mark Van Winkle, Terry (Bill) Biggins and Bradley (Shirley) Van Winkle. He is also survived by a brother, Ron (Dolores) Van Winkle and sister, Lila (Carl) Balint; and grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Nicole Biggins, Scott Christopher, Tara Windt, Jovi Taylor, Bradley Van Winkle, Jr., John Van Winkle, Jessica Van Winkle and Steven Van Winkle, 9 great grandchildren and lifetime friend and former spouse, Donna (McTaggart) Schuster.
