Richard W. Hildreth

Rockwell City Richard "Dick" W. Hildreth 94, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, Lake City. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Church until service time. Richard is survived by his wife Ardeth; children, Sandi (Paul) Feld of Rockwell City, Linda (Neil) Swedlund of Stratford, Rita (Steve) Anderson of Washington, and Gary (Pam) Hildreth of Rockwell City; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Rohn Hildreth; grandson Allen Feld; his parents, Carroll and Blanche (Devitt) Hildreth; sister Carolyn Drennan; and brothers, Noel, Eugene, and Donald Hildreth. Richard Warren Hildreth was born August 31, 1925 at Carroll, Iowa. He graduated from Rockwell City High School. On June 9, 1949 he was united in marriage to Ardeth Pierson at Rockwell City. They lived all 70 years of their marriage farming between Rockwell City and Lohrville. Richard was proud to have helped build the United Methodist Church in Rockwell City. Following their retirement in 1988, they established their home in Rockwell City. Richards passion was driving. He enjoyed hauling livestock in semis and later driving for Champion Chrysler. The couple also enjoyed wintering in Arizona for many years. His hobbies included woodworking and carpentry. Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church, and the Rockwell City Lions Club.
