Rick D. Scherff, 60, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Rick is survived by his wife, Karee Scherff; sons, Jason (Katie) Scherff of Fort Dodge, Treye (Sara) Scherff of Des Moines, and Nathan Scherff of Iowa City, Matt (Kelsey) Clarken of Blairsburg; grandchildren, Mila, Vivian, and Willa Scherff and Henley and Calvin Clarken; brothers, Dave Scherff of Fort Dodge, Keith (Holly) Scherff of Shenandoah, IA, and Dale (Kim) Scherff of Fort Dodge; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Joan (Zweibohmer) Scherff; step-son, Cole Clarken; and a niece, Heather Scherff. Rick Dean Scherff was born June 7, 1959 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Saint Edmond High School. On November 21, 1980 Rick was united in marriage to Mary Bianchi and together they had two sons Jason and Treye. The couple later divorced. On May 2, 1998 Rick was united in marriage to Karee Clendenen and to this union their son Nate was born. Rick was employed by Mediacom for over 30 years. Rick was an avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed softball, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Fort Dodge and State of Iowa Softball Hall of Fame. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
