Gowrie Rita L. Peterson 76, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 Noon Monday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home until service time. Memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice or to Iowa Association of the Blind. Rita is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Vic) Postel of Berwick, Sue (Dean Summers) Peterson of Gowrie, Dixie (Jay) Janssen of Denison, and Leigh Ann Weipert of Ft. Dodge; son Scott Peterson of North Richland Hills, TX; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and brother Gale (Sherri) Brown of LeClaire; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford T. Peterson; parents, Otis and Mary (Brush) Brown; and son-in-law Don Weipert. Rita L. Brown Peterson was born October 27, 1943 at Galesburg, Illinois. She attended Fort Dodge High School. On October 31, 1959, she was united in marriage to Clifford T. Peterson at Moline, Illinois. The couple established their home in Gowrie, where Rita worked at the Gowrie Care Center for several years. Rita was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie.
