Robert Allen Sells

Robert A. Sells Sr. 80, of Perry and formerly of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Laupp, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Gowrie Township Cemetery, Gowrie. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Robert is survived by his children, Robert Sells Jr. of Perry; Michelle (Don) York of Jefferson; Shawn (Penny) Sells of Perry; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Una Lee Johnson of Urbana, IL; Donald Sells; Richard Sells; and Randy Sells all of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilferd and Mary (Currier) Sells; wife, Pauline; infant great-granddaughter; siblings, Juanita Kribel; Alice Ryan; and Michael Sells. Robert Allen Sells Sr. was born November 5, 1933 in Gowrie. He was raised and educated in Gowrie, Callendar, and Fort Dodge. Robert enlisted in the Army National Guard where he received training as a cook and baker. He worked for the Georgia Pacific Railroad, Singer Sewing Co., and for Yellow Cab for a period of time. On February 26, 1959 Robert was united in marriage to Pauline Sieglaff in Fairmont, Minnesota. Robert was a chef throughout his life not only in Iowa but also Colorado, Idaho, and Kansas. The couple returned to Fort Dodge in 1991. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
