Robert G. Taylor, 83, of Duncombe passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Clement Currans officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Robert is survived by his children, Debra (Roger) Taxted of Duncombe; Rick (Yvonne) Taylor of Lehigh; Tony (Tina) Taylor of Dover, FL; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; his dog and best friend, Jack. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Taylor; mother, Martha Ross Gilbert; wife, Marjorie in 2013; and his sister, Francis. Robert G. Taylor was born January 27, 1933 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here. Robert was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Lundberg on June 19, 1954. The couple first established their home in Fort Dodge and then in 1962 they moved to Duncombe. For a number of years Robert worked for Iowa Beef until the plant closed. The couple then owned and operated Mar-Rob enterprises with his wife, Marjorie for several years. For many years he served as Mayor of Duncombe. Robert enjoyed camping, fishing, N.A.S.C.A.R. and attending sprint car races in Knoxville; and was a Minnesota Vikings Fan. He will be deeply missed by his best friend "Jack". Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
