Robert Paul Hood

Robert P. (Bob) Hood, 77, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Des Moines, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. James McAlpin officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Military Rites presented by V.F.W. Post 1856 will follow the service. Private burial will be at the Veteran's Cemetery, Van Meter, IA. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Bob is survived by his children, Robert (Julie) Hood; Kimberly (Marc) Simmerman; Kelly (Matthew) Peters; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Kathy) Hood; sisters, Sharon Lang; and Sue (Greg) Bemrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn (Sweeney) Hood; wife, Jeanean; son, Raymond; brothers, Jerry Hood; Larry Hood; and sisters, Joan Schafroth; Peggy Eckermann. Robert Paul Hood was born January 8, 1938. He attended schools in Fort Dodge, graduating from St. Edmond High School. Following his education, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960 and was honorably discharged. Bob and Jeanean Hanrahan were married in April of 1961. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Iowa Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
