Robert Ray Jordison, 91, died Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Friendship Haven following a short illness. A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held Friday July 21, 2023, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at North Lawn Cemetery. Robert was born March 14, 1932, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Fred and Laura (Rhodes) Jordison. After his graduation from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1950, he enrolled at Iowa State University where he became a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He enlisted in the Air National Guard of Iowa during this time. In 1953, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Stiles and they began their married life in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1955. Bob began his work life in Madison, Wisconsin but soon returned to Iowa where he and his family settled in Des Moines. There he started a successful lifetime career with IBM Corporate Sales. Upon retirement from IBM after more than 25 years, he and Rosemary relocated to Lake Panorama, Iowa where they enjoyed many years at the lake and a large circle of friends. He deeply loved his children and grandchildren and was equally loved in return. In retirement, Bob was able to enjoy and pursue his love of woodworking, golf, and reading. He built furniture, many clocks, and operable cannons which are cherished by his family. While at the lake, Bob acted as chairperson for the fund-raising and construction of a new Panora Library. He also participated in a committee to restore and renovate the Panora Methodist Church during his time as a member there. In 2008, the Jordison's relocated to Clive, Iowa, where they renewed old friendships and made many new ones in their town house association. Bob and Rosemary were married for 67 years until Rosemary's death in 2020. In 2021, his life came full circle when he returned to Fort Dodge and settled at Kenyon Place to be closer to his daughter Laura and her family. He enjoyed his family, apartment, and the wonderful friends he made there to his last days. Robert is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Laura and Matthew Maggio of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law Barb Jordison of Urbandale; grandchildren Samuel Maggio, John (Jack) Maggio, Kate Maggio, and Ben Jordison; and nieces and nephews Lisa Nokes, Megan Bryant, Tim Stiles, Susan Jones, and Allan Jordison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Rosemary; his deeply missed son John (Jack) Jordison; his brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Nancy Jordison; Donald and Betty Jordison; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Marian Stiles. Memorials may be directed to the Friends of the Fort Dodge Public Library or the Panora Public Library.
