In 1971, the family moved to Ogden and Bob worked for the Iowa DOT Mechanics Shop until 1979 when he became the supervisor of the Iowa DOT for Franklin County and they moved to Latimer. Bob retired from the DOT in 1994. After retirement, Bob worked for WalMart in Mason City for over 20 years. Throughout their lives together, Bob and Pearl raised horses. They entered shows all over Central Iowa. While their son was in high school, high school rodeo and Little Britches Rodeo became the focus of their activities as well as square dancing and playing cards. Bob was an avid fisherman. He routinely went to Canada and Lake of the Woods fishing with family and friends.
