Robert T. McNeilly, 93, of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Jon and Linn Simpson Health Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20th at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy and Rev. Dennis McNeilly S.J. con-celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, where there will be military rites presented by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Celebration Center, Friendship Haven with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. The Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Eleanor McNeilly of Fort Dodge; children, Lois (Paul) Roggenkamp of Wheaton, KS; Michael (Eva) McNeilly of San Leandro, CA; Rev. Dennis McNeilly S.J. of Omaha, NE; and Joanne Fisher (Mark) both of Omaha; grandchildren, Amy Roggenkamp (Kevin Hildebrand) of Topeka, KS; Steve Roggenkamp of Wheaton, KS; Marcie (Brent) Matzke of Westmoreland, KS; David (Jennifer) Roggenkamp of St. Marys, KS; Katie (Mike) Lynch of Gardner, KS; Yvette Olivas of San Leandro, CA; Candace (Rene) Macias of Castro Valley, CA; Vanessa (Dan) Miller of Danville, CA; Sarah, Emily, and Molly Fisher all of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Claire, Trevor, and Violet Matzke; Brayden and Blayke Roggenkamp; Max Lynch; Liam, Chloe, and Lincoln Miller; Stephen, Maya, and Sophie Macias, and Jordon Bratton; sisters, Vera (Jack) Hunt of Newton; Mary Troup of Keizer, OR; Elizabeth Coppinger of Fort Dodge; and Marie (John) Myers of Orofino, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew F. and Almina (Donohoe) McNeilly; brothers, James, Richard, John, Kenneth, Edward, Leo, and Thomas McNeilly. Robert T. McNeilly was born November 22, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa. As a young child the family moved to Fort Dodge. He attended schools here and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1938. From 1942 to 1945 Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Fort Dodge. On August 18, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary Eleanor Lochray at Sacred Heart Church and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge where they were lifelong residents. Bob was employed at J.C. Peterson Clothing until 1963. From 1963 to 1972 he was employed as the Men's Department Manager at Gates Department Store. In 1972 he joined the staff at Charles A. Brown Inc. Bob and Eleanor were longtime parishioners at Sacred Heart Church where he was Eucharistic Lay Minister. The couple had celebrated 68 years of marriage last August. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be left to Friendship Haven and Holy Trinity Parish.
