Robert Vernon Clapp Jr.

Robert "Bob" V. Clapp Jr., 88, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Edina, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at their carriage house in Fort Dodge, Iowa. There will be a private family celebration and memorial held at a later date. The Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge is serving the family. Survivors include his wife, Dee Clapp; son, R.V. Clapp III and his wife Suzanne and their children, R.V. "Zak" Clapp IV and Max Clapp all of Fort Dodge; daughters, Cynthia Wincek and her husband, Mark and their children, Christianna and Jeffrey Wincek of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Ann Pollard and her children Elizabeth and Michael Pollard of Danville, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Vernon and Gertrude (Wain) Clapp, and his son-in-law, Bruce Pollard. Robert Vernon Clapp was born on March 23, 1925, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He attended schools there and graduated from Shaker Heights High School. Bob then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air-Corp at the age of 18. As a WWII pilot of the C-46 Troop Transport; he flew missions over the Himalayas from Burma to China. Upon his honorable discharge he entered and graduated from the University of Illinois where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta. On September 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dee Chappell and the couple made their home in Park Ridge, IL. Bob went to work for 3M, which began in Chicago and eventually took the family to the 3M headquarters in St. Paul, MN; where he had a 40 year career in sales, training and marketing.
