Rodney Wayne Askeland

Rodney W. Askeland, 63, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Paula Baber Hospice Home. A Celebration of Life will be 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2016, in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Henderson, officiating. A visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at North Lawn Cemetery. Rodney is survived by his wife, Liz of Fort Dodge; sons, Dr. Ryan (Lacey) Askeland of Sioux Falls, SD; Dr. Eric (Stefanie) Askeland of Cedar Falls; 3 grandchildren, Elena; Nora; and Nadia Askeland; parents, Darlene and Oscar Askeland of Fort Dodge; brothers, Calvin (Bev) Askeland of Rock Island; Brian (Laura) Askeland of Goodyear, AZ; sister-in-law, Eda and (Ray) Butterworth of Lincoln, England. Rodney Wayne Askeland was born March 25, 1953 in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1971. He continued his education at Iowa Central Community College in the bricklayer program. Rodney was united in marriage to Elizabeth Bredehoft on June 15, 1973, at Holy Rosary Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He was a master bricklayer and stone mason for his entire life and took great pride in his work. Rodney had been currently employed with Toftee Construction. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, and watching hummingbirds. Rodney especially loved his family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
