Paton- Roger A. Hirsch, 90, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Farnhamville with Pastor Aaron Zimmerman officiating. The services will be livestreamed via the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/people/Holy-Trinity-LCMS-Mens-Ministry-Farnhamville/100064760797178/ Burial will follow in Paton Township Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to family discretion. Roger Allen Hirsch was born June 8, 1933 at home in Bremer County Iowa to Otto and Marie (Hocke) Hirsch. He was baptized at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly on September 10, 1933 and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Churdan on March 30, 1947. After graduation from high school in 1950, he enlisted into the United States Army. He served during the Korean Conflict from May 8, 1953 until his honorable discharge on May 6, 1955 when he returned home to farm with his father. One Valentines Day evening he went to Jefferson and met Roberta Hall. The couple were united in marriage on September 23, 1956 at Christ Lutheran Church in Churdan. Rogers passion was for farming. He also loved to travel especially to Texas in the winters and enjoyed frequent trips to the lake for fishing. He was a life-long member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and was active with community service at the Paton Co-op. Most of all, Roger loved his family. Roger is survived by his son Rick (Avis) Hirsch of Milaca, MN and their children Autumn (Del), Amberly (Chance), Jeremy and their grandchildren Taylor, Logan, Parker, Brooke, and Jaden, son Randy (Roxanne) Hirsch of Paton and their children Nathan (Darla) and Tyler and their grandchildren Logan, Jonathan, Bradon, Spencer, Isabella, Sofia, Chase, and Aurora, son Russ (Connie) Hirsch of Sioux Falls, SD and their children Brienna (Pat) Colin, and Cayla (Tanner) and their grandchild Ronnie, daughter Renee (Rick) Fausett of Jay, OK and their children Kendra and Ethan; and siblings Arlen, Majorie, Dale, Rita, and Pearl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roberta, granddaughter Brandy Shearer, and sister Marilyn Stahmer.
